Safest Neighbourhoods in Bandung (and Areas to Avoid)
Areas — Asia-Afrika, Dago, Lembang highlands
Recommended bases: Jalan Asia-Afrika area — central; near Asia-Africa Conference Museum, Alun-Alun (city square); historic colonial Bandung; mid-range hotels (Mercure, Hotel Savoy Homann). Dago / Cikutra — north of city, leafier, café-and-boutique scene, Hotel Tebu, Stevie G Hotel. Lembang highlands (15 km north, 1,200m elevation) — cool-air resort area with Sapu Lidi, Stigma 27, family-style boutique stays.
Stay aware: Asia-Afrika area at night — generally safe but quieter than the day; standard pickpocket precautions at the Alun-Alun fountains.
